Mission and History

The Bobst Center for Peace and Justice was established in 2000, with a gift from the Bobst Foundation. It is housed in Bobst Hall, a former eating club built in 1925.

Bobst Center-American University of Beirut Collaborative Initiative

The Bobst-AUB Collaborative Initiative fosters the exchange of ideas and inspires discussion and scholarly collaboration, focusing on social justice and economic development in the Arab world.
Research Funding


Graduate recipients of Bobst grant funds often include fieldwork as part of their research design. Their work takes them all over the world, often to areas of civil unrest.

In recent years, the Bobst Center has funded research in Angola, Benin, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, the Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Taiwan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and the United States.
