The Project on Middle East Political Science (POMEPS) hosted its annual Junior Scholars Book Development Workshop in collaboration with the M. S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice on October 19-20, 2017.
Four junior scholars specializing on Middle East political science presented working drafts of their first book manuscript, and each author received comments and feedback from two experts in their field. There was also time for group discussion to address other points from the audience to make the manuscript as strong as possible.
This workshop provides a valuable service for scholars as they navigate the challenging task of adapting, revising, and polishing their dissertation research into a book format. Past workshop authors have been published with top presses, and one senior discussant this year was even a former junior scholar author herself. The event concluded with a discussion on the publishing industry, timelines, and tips from the senior discussants about dealing with editors and publishers.
